Know Your Enemy

Arizona is home to three species of termites. Each requires a different treatment approach — and all three are active in the Valley.

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean Termites

Extreme Threat

The most destructive species in Arizona. They live underground in massive colonies and build mud tubes to reach wood above ground. Desert subterranean termites are especially aggressive in the Phoenix metro area.

Drywood Termites

Drywood Termites

High Threat

These termites live entirely inside the wood they eat — no soil contact needed. They infest furniture, framing, and hardwood floors. Common in older Arizona homes and coastal-influenced areas.

Dampwood Termites

Dampwood Termites

Moderate Threat

Found in wood with high moisture content. Less common in Arizona's dry climate, but a serious risk near plumbing leaks, irrigation systems, or poorly ventilated crawl spaces.

Arizona Has a Termite Problem. A Big One.

$5B+ in annual U.S. termite damage

Arizona ranks among the top five states for termite activity in the entire country. The warm climate, sandy soil, and rapid suburban expansion create ideal conditions for termite colonies to thrive year-round.

Unlike northern states where termites go dormant in winter, Arizona termites are active 365 days a year. A single subterranean colony can contain over one million workers — silently consuming your home's structural wood around the clock.

Most homeowner's insurance policies do not cover termite damage. The average repair cost after a serious infestation runs $3,000–$8,000. Early detection and treatment is the only reliable protection.

How We Treat Termites

No guesswork. No shortcuts. Every job follows the same proven process.

01

Inspect

We conduct a thorough inspection of your home's foundation, crawl spaces, attic, and wood structures — identifying active infestations and conditions that attract termites.

02

Identify

We determine the exact species, colony size, and extent of damage. Different termites require different treatments — accurate identification is critical.

03

Treat

We apply the right treatment for your situation: liquid soil barrier, bait system, fumigation, or targeted spot treatment. All products are EPA-registered and family-safe when dry.

04

Protect

We install monitoring stations and preventive barriers to stop future colonies from establishing. Your home gets ongoing protection, not just a one-time fix.

05

Follow Up

We schedule follow-up inspections to confirm treatment effectiveness and catch any new activity early. Most treatments include a 1-year warranty.

7 Warning Signs You Have Termites

Termites are called the "silent destroyer" for a reason — most homeowners don't notice an infestation until serious damage is already done. Know what to look for.

1

Mud Tubes on Walls or Foundation

Subterranean termites build pencil-width mud tubes along your foundation, walls, or crawl space to travel between soil and wood. These are the most reliable sign of an active infestation.

2

Hollow-Sounding Wood

Tap on wood beams, door frames, or baseboards. A hollow or papery sound means termites have eaten the interior while leaving the surface intact — a classic sign of drywood termites.

3

Discarded Wings Near Windows

Termite swarmers shed their wings after finding a new nesting site. Piles of small, equal-length wings near windowsills or doors mean a colony has recently established nearby.

4

Frass (Termite Droppings)

Drywood termites push their fecal pellets out of small holes in wood. These tiny, six-sided pellets resemble sawdust or coffee grounds and often appear in small piles below infested wood.

5

Bubbling or Uneven Paint

Moisture produced by termites inside walls causes paint to bubble, peel, or look water-damaged — even without any plumbing leak. This is often mistaken for a roof or pipe issue.

6

Tight-Fitting Doors or Windows

As termites consume wood and produce moisture, door frames and window frames can warp. If doors or windows suddenly stick or don't close properly, termite damage may be the cause.

7

Termite Swarms in Spring

In Arizona, termite swarms typically occur between March and June, often after the first warm rain. Seeing flying termites — especially indoors — is a strong indicator of a nearby colony.

Seasonal Activity

Arizona Termite Season: What You Need to Know

Unlike most pests, Arizona termites are active year-round — but termite swarming season peaks between March and June, when warm temperatures and monsoon moisture trigger reproductive termites to leave their colonies and start new ones.

Desert subterranean termites (Heterotermes aureus) are the most destructive species in the Phoenix metro area. They swarm at dusk after summer rains and can establish new colonies within days of landing. A single mature colony can contain over one million workers.

The best time to treat is before swarming season — a pre-treatment soil barrier or bait system installed in late winter gives your home maximum protection heading into peak termite activity. Don't wait until you see swarmers.
